In a world where many women still fight for their voices to be heard and their achievements to be recognized, Girl Power Alliance (GPA) provides a path to empowerment. Led by Michelle Schaffer, GPA is a movement that aims to change the narrative for women across the globe. The organization offers personal, professional, and leadership development to women so that they can embrace their authenticity and faith.
Schaffer, the CEO and founder of GPA, began her own journey as a teen mom at age 16. In this exclusive interview with me, she shares her journey to successful businesswoman. Arrived at through a series of transformations, Schaffer has found her true calling since establishing Girl Power Alliance in 2020.
“My purpose has evolved with each stage of my life,” Schaffer says. “I was determined to provide a better life for my children, and that drive led me to redefine my purpose time and again.”
What drives Schaffer now is a commitment to nurturing a community where women uplift one another instead of falling into the trap of competitive culture. Schaffer emphasizes that “as one of us rises, we all rise.” This solidarity creates an environment where women can flourish without boundaries, she says.
GPA boasts resources for growth including on-demand learning modules, live coaching sessions, mentoring calls, and certifications – two of which hold accreditation from the International Coaching Federation. At the core of GPA’s ethos is faith, which Schaffer says guides their every decision.
As with any trailblazing endeavor, GPA has encountered its share of challenges. Schaffer acknowledges that being the sole owner of the company has tested her resilience. But along the way, she has mastered a diverse skill set, from automation to compliance law.
Furthermore, witnessing women shed limiting beliefs, heal from past traumas, and transform their lives has brought Schaffer immeasurable fulfillment. “Our tagline is, Change Yourself, Change The World,” she she says.
“We all carry a lot of weight on our shoulders in these times, and women even more so,” Schaffer further explains. “Many ideas placed on us by culture, religion, our families and our communities can be helpful, but sadly many of them keep us locked in comparisons, stuck in the past and never identifying our unique gifts. I have the incredible privilege of watching women throw off these old ways that are not serving them to step into alignment. As a result, they find more fulfillment, more success in business, better relationships and healthy boundaries. It is truly the most remarkable gift I could ever receive.”
For those seeking to align their career with their life purpose, Schaffer offers this advice: “There is no shortcut for truly finding your purpose. Do the next thing you know to do,” she advises. “If you are stuck and don’t have any idea where you are supposed to go, pick a direction and take the next step. So often it is the places we go haphazardly that lead us to a connection, a skill or a door that was divinely placed in that exact location for us to open.”
Schaffer underscores the significance of pursuing a purpose greater than oneself, as she believes that true fulfillment stems from making a meaningful impact. “All the success, all the money, all the fame and celebrity in the world will not fill a void. Far too many souls seek those things only to arrive and find they are more lost than they were before. However, when you know that there is meaning and purpose for your existence beyond things, you will discover a fulfillment that lasts. That will take you further and give you more grit than any promotion you seek.”
